I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel's location, nestled in the beautiful hills and close to great hiking trails. The rooms, although a bit away from the main hotel area, were charming and easily walkable, with a lovely fireplace in the living room. However, the parking situation with people in handicap spaces was a downside.

I found the rooms to be very nice, although they were a bit away from the main part of the hotel. The fireplace in the living room made it feel like a cozy family retreat.
Service
7.0
The service was friendly and easy to talk to, with a bit of confusion at check-in. However, they quickly resolved any issues and made sure everything was working fine.
Location
7.0
The location was tranquil, perfect for relaxation and reading. It was also convenient for accessing the Bob Jones Trail to Avila Beach and surrounded by great hiking trails. While the beauty was undeniable, the high cost diminished its overall value.
Dining
6.0
Dining options were a nice bonus, especially in the restaurant and lounge. However, they were a little lacking and seemed overpriced for what they offered.
Facilities
8.0
The facilities were very nice, offering a quiet and serene atmosphere. However, the lack of clear navigation for guests with orthopedic or asthma concerns was a drawback.

I had a mixed experience at the hotel. The queen suite with the hot tub was amazing and unexpected, but the extreme sulfate smell in the room made my husband feel sick, and I almost got nauseous, which was a real downside. The separation of the bedroom from the living room was a nice feature.

The queen suite with the hot tub was awesome and unexpected, but the extreme sulfate smell was a major issue.
Service
6.0
The staff really tried to be helpful, but they were not consistently friendly during our interactions. They didn't take action regarding noisy neighbors and did little to address disturbances.
Location
8.0
The location is a perfect blend of mountains and ocean, rural and quiet with easy access to the Bob Jones Trail. Despite its beauty, the steep hill approach in chilly December weather to the front desk could be a challenge.
Dining
7.0
The morning dining options were a bit lacking and pricey for what you received. However, the gourmet pizzas were delicious and a positive dining experience.
Facilities

The hotel had good facilities, but the issue with the sulfate smell overshadowed the experience, affecting our overall stay.

Staying at this hotel was a mixed experience. The rooms were luxurious and beautiful, but lacked a blow dryer as advertised. The location was great, surrounded by a lovely garden and close to the beach. The service was friendly and accommodating, although some aspects could be improved. The dining was a bit expensive, and the quality did not quite match the price. Overall, a pleasant stay with a few drawbacks.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms were luxurious and beautiful, though missing a blow dryer as stated. They are located over a garage/utility room and could use some maintenance/updating.
Service
8.0
The service was so nice and accommodating, with big smiles from the staff. I even received some luscious Truffles for my birthday. However, there were minor issues with watery, burning eyes.
Location
8.0
The location was great, set among a beautiful garden and trees, with proximity to the beach. It is off the beaten path in a quiet grove, but unfortunately, there were some crying kids present.
Dining
6.0
The dining was a bit expensive and not necessarily up to par with the price paid. Although I didn't particularly care for my choice of breakfast, the hand-cut steaks were a highlight.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities were decent, but could benefit from some improvements.
